Office of the Press Registrar has mandate to maintain centeralized data of publications, news agencies and printing presses all over the Pakistan. The Press Registrar renders services in following areas:
To compile and maintain the central register of publications (daily, weekly, fortnightly, monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, half yearly, annual, bi-annual), news agencies and printing presses all over the country.Issue NOCs for new titles of Newspapers, News Agencies, Printing Presses.
To process NOC requests for other station, change of language, change of periodicity, change of printing press and transfer of ownership.
To issue certificate of registration that are renewed after every three years after assessment of regularity standards and quality of the publication.
To ensure printing in accordance with the provisions of PNNBR Ordinance 2002 and Rules 2009.
To check violations and take action against violators.
To act against irregular/ unauthorized publications.
To take Suo moto as per Section 19 of PNNBR Ordinance-2002 on the application or information received through any person.
To issue judgement in cases relating to publications assigned by the concerned Hon’ble High Courts.
